Handbound journal with handcarved lizard embossed under leather. There is a turquoise leather inset on lizard's back as well as silver wire. Coversheet inside the front cover is bright green, and inside the back cover is blue. Interior papers are acid-free white with accents of green sheets.

"Locked Up Journal"

Diesel truck engine parts are
utilized as closure components
for this padlocked journal. After
the off-white and turquoise
acid-free pages were bound
together, they were trimmed-
a sheet at a time- into a sloped
shape resulting in each page
being a slightly different
size. Two large steel rings
are wired onto the front cover
over turquoise deerskin.
Secured to the back cover is
a brass engine part through
which an aluminum washer
is hooked. The small washer
looped on the large steel ring
of the front cover is locked
to the small washer attached
to the back cover. Burgundy
handmade paper lines the
interior covers as endsheets.
The back cover consists of
smooth black cowhide plus
an accent of a curvy black
suede stripe.

"Turquoise Door Journal"

Smoky textured glass windows. Fine papers bound into the book including a few surprise sheets of serigraph printed rag paper. The interior of the cover showcases coversheets made from white acid-free handmade Mulberry paper. Page two is lined with a textured sheet of handmade paper in natural tones. Suede red leather trims the edges of the window inside the cover. I created the door hardware from copper sheet metal and wire which has been cut and hammered into shape and wired firmed through the cover for full functionality when opening the cover.
